Championship Chess is a systematic, fun way to build skills during chess instruction and supervised play. Studies show that chess improves math, reading, and critical thinking in young learners while they have a great time playing the classic game.

This year, we are excited to offer a second hour of chess class for our Montgomery players who would like to work on advanced openings, tactics, and endgame skills to become competitive in all phases of the game and better prepared for tournament play. Players eager to put in extra effort to improve and form a team dynamic will find the second hour to be rewarding and exciting. They must know the basics of the game and, of course, have a competitive spirit and the will to excel. Only players who take the first hour class are eligible for the second hour.

• Who: 1st-5th graders

• When: Wednesdays, 1st Hour from 2:30-3:30 pm; 2nd Hour from 3:30-4:30 pm
